They absorb what’s around them, and can sometimes, without even realizing it, bring that negativity to school, in the form of bullying, exclusion, learned biases from family members, among other behaviors that, once they seep into the classroom can be challenging to overcome. Some students, especially those who were bullied or ostracized before the Covid-crisis, may be dreading school even more next fall. Then, there’s the bully. Bullying is almost always a cry for help, and those cries may be louder in the wake of Covid-related anxieties at home.
